Als Trainer arbeitete der Diplom-Sportwissenschaftler zehn Jahre als hauptamtlicher Leichtathletiktrainer beim TSV Bayer Dormagen. Acht Jahre lang betreute er als Athletiktrainer Teams aus der Handballbundesliga. Darunter die Vereine TSV Dormagen, DHC Rheinland und HSG Wetzlar. Die letzten vier Jahre bereitete er einer Karatekämpferin auf die olympischen Spiele vor.
Thorsten Ribbecke besitzt die A-Trainer-Lizenz Leichtathletik und schloss 2010 seinen Diplomtrainerstudiengang an der Trainerakademie Köln des DOSB erfolgreich ab.
Seit 2012 ist er wissenschaftlicher Referent an der Trainerakademie Köln des DOSB und verantwortlich für die DOSB Athletiktrainerausbildung.

As a coach, the sports science graduate worked for ten years as a full-time athletics coach at TSV Bayer Dormagen. For eight years, he supervised teams from the Handball Bundesliga as an athletics coach. Among them were the clubs TSV Dormagen, DHC Rheinland and HSG Wetzlar. The last four years he prepared a karate fighter for the Olympic Games.
Thorsten Ribbecke holds the A-trainer license in athletics and successfully completed his graduate trainer course at the Trainer Academy Cologne of the DOSB in 2010.
Since 2012, he has been a scientific advisor at the DOSB Trainer Academy Cologne and is responsible for the DOSB athletic trainer education.
